Tropical Weather Updates
MOBILE COUNTY EMA • TROPICAL STORM FRANCINE • ALERT #1 September 10th 4:40 p.m.
Mobile County is under a Tropical Storm Warning, Storm Surge Watch and a Flood Watch as issued by the National Weather Service.
Mobile County is forecasted to experience mid-level tropical storm-force winds (approx. 40 mph), heavy rain, storm surge of approx. 2 to 4 feet beginning Wednesday evening through Thursday morning. This storm will generate life-threatening rip currents and has the potential for inland flooding due to rainfall.
The storm is expected to make landfall to the west. Mobile County residents are encouraged to:
- Be Informed: Tune in to official channels of communication. Public notices will be communicated through local media, official EMA, County, and local municipalities’ social media, www.mcema.net, and the MCEMA app, which is available at the Apple Store or Google Play. Get your weather information from reliable sources like the National Hurricane Center, National Weather Service and local TV meteorologists.
- Be Prepared: Know your risk and evacuation zone. Have a plan. Build a kit of necessary supplies and medicine. Gather important documents like your insurance policy. Prepare your home. Charge your devices and be tech ready. Check on elderly or medically vulnerable friends and neighbors.
At this time, Mobile County Emergency Management Agency is not planning to open a shelter for the storm.

Established in 1952 in response to Federal, State, and local guidelines, the Mobile County Commission passed a resolution on June 8, 1987, that made the Mobile County Emergency Management Agency (MCEMA) the office of government to act for the emergency planning district in Mobile County.
MCEMA has the primary responsibility for development of plans for our citizens and their property in the event of any emergencies that may affect our county.
