Mobile County EMA had a transformative year in 2025. We strengthened preparedness, resilience, and operational readiness across the county. We achieved EMAP compliance, implemented a GIS-based EOC activation platform to improve situational awareness, and expanded the Duty Officer Performance-Based Training program to support 24/7 operations.
Community preparedness also advanced. Neighborhood Emergency Response Teams grew, and weather radios were distributed to all public schools. Internally, we updated the Policy Manual, submitted the Multi-Jurisdiction Hazard Mitigation Plan for state and FEMA review, and expanded staff capacity with three Plans and Operations Officers and a SkillBridge intern.
Through training, exercises, and outreach, our staff and partners ensured Mobile County remains ready for any hazard. Preparedness is a continuous commitment. It requires ongoing coordination, improvement, and accountability.
In 2026, Mobile County EMA will build on EMAP accreditation, workforce professionalization, and enhanced situational awareness. We will advance community preparedness initiatives, refine hazard mitigation and response plans, expand volunteer engagement, and leverage technology and data-driven decision-making to strengthen countywide resilience.
